Public Health Services works together with communities, families and individuals to prevent illness, protect and promote health and achieve overall well-being. It is a shared service between Cape Breton and Guysborough Antigonish Strait District Health Authorities. Between the two Districts there are almost 110 staff serving a combined District population of roughly 175,000.
Public Health Services consists of a team, which includes people working at the provincial, district and community levels of the health system. The team is made up of public health nurses, health educators, dental hygienists, nutritionists, support staff, managers, a director and an epidemiologist.
With Public Health Services offices in communities across Cape Breton and the Antigonish Strait area, PHS delivers programs and services to a number of groups including children, adults, and seniors.
